Quality
We use durable materials and careful workmanship, and we check our work at every stage.
General contractor
We turn approved plans into finished homes, managing the trades, the schedule and the budget so residents can move in on time to buildings made to last.
Steel Ledge Construction is a new general contracting company, being formed now to build the affordable homes Hearthmont and its partners plan. Our name says what we care about: solid structure, careful work and a firm footing for every family who will live in the homes we build.
We believe the people who build a neighborhood should come from it whenever possible. We intend to hire local trades and suppliers, run clean and safe job sites, and treat the neighbors around each project with respect while work is underway.
Most of all, we want every resident to walk into a home that is well made, comfortable and easy to live in, whatever their age or ability.
We review drawings early, price the work carefully and suggest practical ways to build better for the same budget.
We work with architects and engineers so designs are buildable, durable and cost-effective.
We bid out the work fairly, with a priority on qualified local trade partners and suppliers.
We lead the job site day to day, coordinating every trade and keeping the work moving.
We track progress and costs closely and report honestly to the owner and lenders.
We plan and run job sites with clear safety rules, training and daily oversight.
We check our work at every stage and coordinate with inspectors, testing agencies and the design team.
We finish every punch-list item, hand over complete documentation and stand behind our work after move-in.
Hearthmont is the nonprofit sponsor of each project and keeps a controlling role. Steel Ledge Construction builds under a written construction contract with a defined scope, price and schedule, reviewed by Hearthmont and the project’s lenders.
We work hand in hand with Landmark Peak Development during design and with Charter Key Property Management before opening, so that the buildings we hand over are easy to maintain and ready for residents.
We use durable materials and careful workmanship, and we check our work at every stage.
We aim for every worker to go home safe every day, with clear rules, training and accountability on site.
We build accessible units and common spaces with care, following the design closely so they work as intended.
We pay close attention to insulation, air sealing and efficient systems so homes are comfortable and affordable to run.
We intend to hire local workers and to bid work to Hudson Valley trades, suppliers and minority- and women-owned businesses.
We keep sites tidy, communicate about noise and deliveries, and are easy to reach when questions come up.
